When making the study of the profile, one can notice that the patient’s chin is small showing short neck, and sometimes jowl.

Anesthesia
It is carried out under local anesthesia, general if it is the patient’s choice.

Procedure:  
It is carried out a pocket through an intra oral boarding or in some cases under the chin in contact with the bone for the placement of an anatomical silicon or polyethylene implant. It doesn’t require removal of stitches; we formulate antibiotics and analgesics, oral cleaning and a micropore bandage for one week.

The approximate duration of the procedure is 30 minutes. Ambulatory management.

Increase of the chin.

Methods: 
– Anatomical solid silicon or porex Implant.
– We locate the implant in contact with the bone, some implants are fixed to it.

Objective: 
– To increase the chin and to balance the profile
– To improve the position of the inferior lip
– To improve the jowl.

Preoperative preparation:
– Fast 8 hours in advance. 
– To communicate possible medicine allergies. 
– To go the day of the intervention with comfortable and wide, buttoning or zipper clothing. 
– Strict oral cleaning.

Type of Anesthesia
– It can be carried out under local or general anesthesia if the patient wants it or if it is combined with other surgeries.

Incisions: 
– Generally is placed through intraoral way, not leaving external scar
– Porex Implants are placed through of the skin under the chin
– The scar is almost imperceptible within 6 to 12 months. 
– It is not necessary to remove intraoral sutures.

Effects and/or convalescence: 
– Swelling during 15 days. 
– Ecchymosis (bruises) during 10 days approximately. 
– Sensitive alterations of the inferior lip during one month.

Complications: 
– Infection. Not very frequent. 
– Seroma. Exceptional. 
– Allocation. Not very frequent, it should be avoided to exert pressure in the chin that can move it. 
– Expulsion of the implant. It is more related to infectious or traumatic processes.
– Dehiscence (open stitches) of sutures. Trauma when eating or when speaking.

Post operative instructions:  
–  Relative rest the first 2 days. 
– To avoid traumatisms of the gum and intraoral mucous when eating.  
– To take the recommended medication. 
– Strict oral cleaning. 
– Post operative ice during 48 hours. 
– Do not to take the sun at least in one month.

Hospitalization: 
– Ambulatory.

Results: 
– Increase of the chin according to the patient’s profile.

Final time: 
– One month.
